S20 The Boundary
Project location: Sheffield
Project Background Brief:
S20 The Boundary is a state-of-the-art indoor cricket centre in Sheffield, England. The centre features eight lanes, a bowling machine lane, and the option of two indoor cricket lanes. PPG Projects was commissioned to design, supply, and install ECB National/International Standard LED Cricket Lighting and Emergency Lighting for the centre.
The PPG Projects team worked closely with S20 The Boundary to develop a lighting solution that would meet all of their needs and requirements. The team considered a number of factors, including the size and layout of the centre, the type of cricket that would be played, and the ECB’s strict lighting requirements for National/International level Cricket.
The PPG Projects team opted for a combination of high-output LED luminaires and low-glare LED luminaires to provide a uniform light distribution across the playing surface. The high-output LED luminaires provide excellent light levels for players and spectators, while the low-glare LED luminaires reduce eye fatigue and improve player performance.
The PPG Projects team also installed a number of energy-saving features, such as occupancy sensors and dimming controls. These features will help to reduce S20 The Boundary’s operating costs and environmental impact.
The new lighting system at S20 The Boundary has been very well-received by players and spectators alike. The system provides a high-quality lighting experience that is ideal for all levels of play.
Benefits of the new LED cricket lighting system at S20 The Boundary:
- Improved light quality: The new LED lighting system provides a uniform light distribution across the playing surface, with high color rendering index (CRI) and low glare. This provides players and spectators with an excellent lighting experience, regardless of the time of day or weather conditions.
- Reduced energy costs: LED lighting is significantly more energy-efficient than traditional lighting. The new lighting system at S20 The Boundary is expected to reduce the centre’s energy costs by up to 50%.
- Reduced environmental impact: LED lighting produces less heat and fewer greenhouse gases than traditional lighting.
- Increased lifespan: LED lights have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours, compared to 2,000 hours or less for traditional metal halide lamps. This reduces the need for regular maintenance and replacement, saving S20 The Boundary time and money.
